Eczema and sensitive skin: a calmer face routine

Sensitive skin · face · Sarajevo

When your face reacts to everything, the answer is not a stronger routine. It is a shorter, quieter one.

Harsh products, perfumed cleansers and a routine that changes every week are hard on eczema-prone and atopic skin. The plainest start is usually the best one: lukewarm water, a gentle wash, and a cream your skin tolerates. Cutting the routine back is not neglecting your skin. It is looking after it.

Less of everything

Less rubbing. Less heat. Fewer steps. Fewer new bottles in the same week.

Start with the wash

If your face feels tight, stings or turns red after washing, the wash is usually the problem, not the cream. Ours is AMAAN: a small amount, lukewarm water, a short massage with your fingertips, then pat your face dry instead of rubbing it. Sensitive skin does not forgive roughness: not in your hands, not in the bottle.

Then the cream

We make the wash. The best cream is usually the one your skin has already accepted, so if something is working for you, keep using it. Put it on while your face is still damp, because damp skin holds on to more moisture than dry skin. A shelf of half-used jars tells you nothing.

Morning

Lukewarm water, or a very small amount of AMAAN. Then a thin layer of cream if your skin is asking for it.

Evening

Take the day off your face gently. Put the cream on while your skin is still damp.

When to stop and ask

If the skin is broken, painful or infected, if the itch will not settle, or if it is a child's skin, put the shopping aside and see a dermatologist. A routine is for everyday care. It does not replace a diagnosis.

The best test for sensitive skin is a boring one: one new product, a small patch, a few quiet days.

If you are starting from scratch, begin with AMAAN Duo. Elsewhere in the line, our Korijen oils are argan and SANOUJ, cold-pressed, one ingredient in the bottle.
