Why argan oil costs more than other oils
The argan tree grows only in south-western Morocco. The kernel the oil is pressed from sits inside a very hard shell, and it takes a lot of fruit to make a little oil.
Cosmetic argan oil is cold-pressed from unroasted kernels, without solvents. Oil made this way keeps its pale gold colour and mild, nutty scent.
How to check a bottle before you buy
- Turn the bottle round. The label (INCI) must list only Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil.
- Look at the colour of the oil. Cosmetic argan oil is pale gold.
- Smell it. The scent is mild and nutty.

How long a bottle lasts
