AMAAN washes with the mild class of surfactants: Coco glucoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine. One is a glucoside, the other amphoteric, and the formula's pH is 5.0 to 5.5. That is why you can wash your face more than once a day, after training or after heat, and the skin is not left stripped. It does not sting either, so your eyes can stay open.

Aloe and glycerin, high on the list
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice sits fourth on the label, glycerin fifth. Glycerin is a humectant, so the softness is still there after you rinse.

The AQUAXYL complex
Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol and Xylitol together are AQUAXYL, a complex that helps the skin hold on to water. That is how one wash does two jobs, cleanse and hydrate.

A clear liquid, a little foam
What leaves the bottle is a clear liquid that opens into a little foam on a wet face. The scent is fresh, cucumber, and it rinses away with water.
After the wash comes cream, or a few drops of argan oil.

- What actually washes your face in AMAAN?
- Two mild surfactants do it: Coco glucoside and Cocamidopropyl Betaine. At pH 5.0 to 5.5, they lift oil, sunscreen and the day off your face without stripping it. Aloe vera comes fourth and glycerin fifth, so the wash leaves skin comfortable rather than tight.
- What does it smell like?
- Fresh and clean, of cucumber. The scent comes from the fragrance in the formula, and Hexyl Cinnamal is the declared allergen.
- For which skin, and when?
- For washing the face every day, morning and evening. If you sweat or train, wash more often: mild surfactants clean without leaving skin tight.
- How long does a bottle last, and how do you store it?
- A bottle holds 200 ml and keeps for 12 months once opened. Store it somewhere dark and cool, under 20 degrees.
- What if it does not suit me?
- You can return it within 14 days. You pay cash when the parcel reaches your door.

What each ingredient does
- Aqua
- The water base. Every other ingredient dissolves into it and spreads evenly.
- Coco glucoside
- A cleansing and foaming surfactant. It lifts away oil and dirt and builds the lather.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine
- A co-surfactant. It boosts the lather and gives it its creamy body.
- Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice
- Aloe vera. The plant ingredient that conditions the skin and leaves a fresh feel after washing.
- Glycerin
- A humectant. It binds water and holds it at the surface, so what it touches stays soft instead of dry.
- Xylitylglucoside
- Part of the sugar complex that holds moisture in the skin, so cleansing does not leave it tight.
- Anhydroxylitol
- Works with the rest of the sugar complex to hold moisture through the wash.
- Xylitol
- A sugar alcohol that binds water and completes the hydrating side of the formula.
- Benzyl Alcohol
- A preservative. It keeps the formula sound once it is open and in daily use.
- Dehydroacetic Acid
- The second half of the preservative system. It works alongside benzyl alcohol to protect a water-based formula.
- Citric Acid
- The pH regulator. It sets the formula's acidity.
- Sodium Citrate
- Holds the pH steady, so the formula stays in that mildly acidic range from start to finish.
- Ascorbic Acid
- Vitamin C, present in a small amount. Its job here is antioxidant protection for the formula.
- Sodium Benzoate
- A preservative. It protects the formula from bacteria for as long as the bottle sits in your bathroom.
- Potassium Sorbate
- A preservative. It stops yeast and mold developing in a formula that contains water.
- Fragrance
- The scent. It carries the fresh cucumber note through the foam.
- Hexyl Cinnamal
- A component of the fragrance. Named on its own because it is on the EU fragrance allergen list.
