A thick, white shampoo for wet roots and scalp: two minutes of gentle massage, then rinse.
The wash step
IHLA is a sulfate-free shampoo with aloe vera and hydrolyzed wheat protein. It is white and thick, and four surfactants do the washing: sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, cocamidopropyl betaine, lauryl glucoside and coco glucoside.
Hydrolyzed wheat protein binds to the hair, cuts static, and leaves it softer and easier to comb.
Glycerin draws moisture in and holds it, so hair is not left dry after the wash. Alongside it sits aloe vera leaf extract, which conditions the scalp and leaves it feeling fresh.
The shampoo's pH is 5.0 to 5.5.
Conditioner and oil pick up after the rinse, on lengths and ends.
How to use
Warm water first, all the way through, so the shampoo spreads easily.
A small amount, worked gently over the scalp with your fingertips.
Lukewarm water until hair feels clean; an oilier root can take a second pass.
Lengths and ends take conditioner or a drop of oil, not more shampoo.
On the label
Every ingredient, and what it does in the formula.
A 250 ml shampoo. Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Lauryl Glucoside and Coco Glucoside are the surfactants that do the washing, which is why the lather stays soft instead of squeaking. Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein is a cationic wheat protein: it is drawn to hair and stays there through the rinse, so lengths feel smoother and comb more easily. Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract and glycerin hold water at the surface. The formula's pH is 5.0 to 5.5. Contains hydrolyzed wheat protein.
