Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Papaver Rhoeas Flower Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), Tocopherol.
What each ingredient does
- Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil
- It gives the balm its shine and the body that clings to the lips.
- Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil
- A gentle plant oil that conditions lips and leaves them smooth.
- Cera Alba (Beeswax)
- It holds the balm solid in the jar and forms the layer that stays on the lips.
- Papaver Rhoeas Flower Extract
- Wild poppy flower extract. It conditions the lips.
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter
- A rich plant butter. It conditions and softens, and it gives the formula its density.
- Tocopherol
- Vitamin E. The antioxidant that keeps the oils from oxidising, so they stay fresh to the end of the pack.
What is AZGGAGH?
In Amazigh, azggagh means red. A warm red tint in a soft balm, made in Morocco.
Product questions
- Is it more lipstick or balm?
- A balm. A lipstick has to be hard to hold its stick shape, so it is built on hard waxes. AZGGAGH is built on beeswax, in a pot, so it goes onto the lips softer than a lipstick, with a light gloss.
- How long does a pot last?
- A thin layer with a fingertip, so the 20 g pot lasts for months.
- What is aker fassi?
- The Moroccan red for lips and cheeks, sold for generations in small clay pots; fassi means from Fes. It arrived with a bride's trousseau, beside a mirror, a comb and henna, and her friends coloured their own cheeks with it too. Red on the cheeks meant something was being celebrated. AZGGAGH carries that tradition on in a balm you wear every day.
